About Baptism

We believe baptism is an important step in your faith journey, and it would be our honor to celebrate this special moment with you!

Baptism is a beautiful visual and symbolic demonstration of a person’s union with Christ in the likeness of His death.

Baptism is not just a demonstration or “checking a box” on the Christian journey; it’s a privilege.

We have the opportunity to proclaim our trust in and love for Jesus through baptism in the same way Christians have been practicing it all over the world for over 2000 years! It’s our joy to be baptized!

When we are baptized we are following Jesus’ example & obeying His command.

“As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him, I am well pleased.’”
– Matthew 3:16–17

“Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’”
– Acts 2:38

The desire to be baptized should be motivated by our hope to glorify God in faithful obedience. Any other motivation (to join a specific local church, to please a friend or family member, etc.) should not be the ultimate reason for wanting to be baptized.

The significance of baptism is a personal decision to follow Jesus & declaration to the world that you are following him.

If your baptism did not reflect this change of life, or your own personal decision to follow Him, then you might consider being baptized again.

Child Baptism is available to those children who are old enough to both understand and verbally acknowledge Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

While we do not baptize infants at Bayside, we do have a child dedication process for parents who want to publicly dedicate their children to the Lord.
